Mosquito Spray Scheduled – 8/18/2020

Weather permitting, the Atlantic County Office of Mosquito Control plans to treat parts of Galloway Township and Port Republic as part of its ongoing effort to control adult mosquitoes.

In Galloway Township, spraying to reduce adult mosquitoes using aerial application equipment will take place on Tuesday evening August 18th, between 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm. The areas to be treated are bounded by Route 9 and King’s Highway; Rt. 9 east to the E.B. Forsythe Refuge, from Smith-Bowen Rd. to Leeds Point Rd.; Rt. 9 east to the E.B. Forsythe Refuge, from E. Somers Landing Rd. to E. Chanese Ln.

In Port Republic, spraying to reduce adult mosquitoes using aerial application equipment will take place on Tuesday evening August 18th, between 5:30 pm and 8:00 pm. The areas to be treated are between Clark’s Landing Rd. and Chestnut Neck.

Aerial spraying will be done using Duet HD, the trade name for Prallethrin and Synergized Sumithrin, applied as an ultra-low volume aerosol.

The EPA does not require relocating or taking special precautions during mosquito control spraying, people may choose to avoid or minimize exposure by:

  • Staying indoors during application to immediate area
  • Keeping windows shut, window fans and window air conditioners off (or set to circulate indoor air) during spraying
  • Keeping children’s toys indoors
  • Keeping pets indoors, as well as their food, water dishes and toys.
